Can Anyone give advice? For a girl that wants to develop a relationship?

Good evening,
Ok, I've invested all my energy and heart into this one boy and it seemed like when we were alone the only person he wanted and wanted to go out with is me. But, when were in school he hangs out with his ex and other girls that are both our friends. The only acknowledgment I receive from him is a hit in the arm like I'm one of the guys and I'm not. Well, then later I felt it was my time to lose my virginity to him and he kept saying it wasn't his place, until one day he took it. Now, we still act the same in public, but he likes this girl in our science class and wants to spend 130-160 on her valentines day present, and failed to mention me. I just want advice.....Am I expecting to much out of him? Should I just give up now?
